Emily PinkertonEmily Pinkerton is a folk musician from Pittsburgh who was recently in Central Pennsylvania to perform a Susquehanna Folk Music Society concert in Harrisburg. Emily’s music is a blend of American Old-Time and Latin America folk songs. I was lucky to have a chance to chat with her here at the Wood Stove House about her musical journey and brand new album, Ends of the Earth.
Chet Williamson from Creative Works of Lancaster returns this week with another installment of CODPIECE, Chet’s look at classic and sleeper films that you really need to check out if you haven’t already. In this episode Chet takes a look at “horse operas”. The classic film is High Noon (1952) starring Gary Cooper, Grace Kelly, and Thomas Mitchell. The sleeper is the 2008 western Appaloosa, which stars the film’s writer and director, Ed Harris. Co-stars include Viggo Mortensen and Renee Zellweger.

    Appaloosa is one of my new Western favorites. Well worth watching.
    High Noon is a wonderful film also, my only problem with it is that Cooper looks old enough in it to be Grace Kelly’s grandfather. But don’t let that minor quibble stop you from seeing this classic.
