Podcast #96: The Slackwater News and John Modern
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
The Slackwater News is a Lancaster band that is self-described as landing somewhere between indie rock and freak folk. It doesn’t really matter what that means, as the band’s live show is turning heads well beyond the Lancaster area. The band formed over many years of playing together in a variety of projects, some of which date all the way back to high school. Over the past five years or so, the band has been working hard and honing their craft.
On Halloween 2012 they released a self-produced six-song EP called Graveyard Mates. Vocalist and guitarist Dan Zdilla and drummer Matt Blank joined me for a conversation about the band and some of the stories behind the songs.
